If you want to put something fun and save your lips from winter weather, try Sugar Lip Treatment by Fresh ($22.50 http://www.fresh.com). I got two samples and I am obsessed! My lips were cracked and in one day they were healed! I have the original formula and the Rose tint formula. They are basically jumbo sized chap sticks that are formulated to heal your lips and leave them with all their moisture. Sugar is natural way to prevent moisture loss…who knew??? They are also packed with SPF and leave your lips soft and supple for 6 hours! I love using the original formula under my lipsticks and the Rose Tint formula for when I use a gloss or don’t want to use any other color on my lips at all. I really recommend these for winter, they are a lip saver!
Moisture For Your Eyes
23 MayI have really sensitive eyes and have used tons of different eye creams but a lot of them burn my eye area. I have been using Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado ($28 www.kiehls.com) for a while now and it is heavenly. It is a simple moisturizing eye treatment with avocado oil. It is formulated not to migrate into your eyes and it is sensitive enough for all skin types. Ever since using this my eye area has become brighter and my dark circles have reduced. One way to prevent fine lines and wrinkles is moisture and you can really feel like you are getting that when you put this on. It is a funny green color but it goes on clear. Just use a tiny amount and dab it on lightly with your ring finger morning and night. It is so funny because avocado’s are one of my favorite foods and now they are a part of my favorite skin care! If you need to start using an eye cream this is a good one to try or if you need more moisture for your eye area this is perfect!
Neck Tissue Repair
19 MayOne of the things I worry about with the whole anti-aging process is having a neck that looks like a turkey! Have you every noticed those women that have great skin on their faces and their necks look 100 years older? I really want to avoid that in my old age…So, in try to avoid gravity and neck wrinkles, I have been using Kate Somerville Neck Tissue Repair Cream With Peptide K8 ($150 www.katesomerville.com). The science behind Peptide K8 is that it is supposed to reduce the volume, density, and depth of fine lines and wrinkles. I have seen this in a lot of products lately. The other benefits of K8 is that it helps with texture and elasticity of the skin. Other ingredients help firm and tone as well as make the skin soft and smooth. One benefit is that the jojoba and macadamia nut help keep the skin moisturized and prevent water loss. When putting this on you only want to move this in an upward motion. I even put this on my bust line because I figure I need all the help I can get! You need one pump and move it in an upward motion toward your face to help activate the ingredients. The smell is divine and subtle so you won’t be smelling it all day long. If you are worried about looking saggy and wrinkly from the neck down, try this cream you won’t be disappointed!
Shea Butter Your Hair With Moisture
17 MayI am an official Frederic Fekkai hair product junkie! I have something if not most everything from all of his different collections. I use them on a regular rotation as they are all intended for a different use. However, one of my favorites is the Essential Shea Collection ($25-$35 www.fekkai.com). This collection smells amazing and it absolutely revives your hair with moisture. I use the shampoo and conditioner once or twice a week depending on how “dry” my hair is feeling. Since I have fine hair, if I use it more than that, my hair gets weighed down and gets oily. I like to use the cream on the ends of hair which makes my hair really soft and the smell is divine! Every other week or so I use the hair mask. You leave this on for at least 15 minutes, I leave it on all night sometimes…then you wash your hair as usual and it will come out more soft than ever before! I can’t say one bad thing about this collection. If you need moisture for your hair or have damaged hair then I would definitely try the hair mask. If you need to add some moisture into your routine then try using the shampoo and conditioner once or twice a week. You will see results after the first use and the smell is heavenly which makes you want to use it more. Who knew shea butter was as good for the hair as it is for the skin?!?!?
Moisturizer With Sunscreen
1 May
May is national skin cancer awareness month so it is totally appropriate that I tell you about my new favorite moisturizer! I had been looking for a moisturizer for the day time with a high SPF count (due to my very fair skin) that didn’t have that sunscreen smell, when I found Neutrogena Healthy Defense Moisturizer with SPF 50 ($12 www.neutrogena.com). The Healthy Defense line does have varying degrees of SPF from 15-50, but I need the highest possible. I also chose the Sensitive Skin formula because sometimes sunscreen causes my face to breakout. I started using this last week and you just need a small amount. Don’t get scared because when you first put it on you may get that “white face” look that sunscreen can cause, but keep rubbing gently in the skin and it will absorb. The best part is that it leaves a matte texture so you can apply your makeup right over it! I wore it for over 8 hours and my makeup did not get oily and I did not break out! I was so happy that I found a fragrance free SPF moisturizer that actually works well as a beauty product! The sunscreen in this product is 100% natural which makes it gentle and not heavy on your skin. Everyone needs to use an SPF on their face because it helps with anti-aging. The UVA/UVB rays are damaging to all skin types. Please give this a try and add to your routine to help fight the suns harmful rays!
Hand Cream For Winter Weather
29 Feb
I am always buying and trying out new hand creams. I think I get bored and just want to try something new with a different scent and a new bottle or package…I think we all get that way with beauty products. However, I have been using a hand cream this winter that has saved my hands from getting all dried out from the winter weather. I have never found a hand cream that I loved as much as Nivea Smooth Indulgence Hand Cream ($5 www.drugstore.com). This hand cream contains macadamia nut oil and vitamins which help add moisture and soften dry hands. The smell is very “clean” and fresh. The best part is that it absorbs quickly and doesn’t leave a greasy residue on your skin so you can use your cell phone, key board or do other things right after applying it. I keep a bottle of this on my desk and use it after I wash my hands to keep them really soft. I have turned other people in my office on to it because of the smell and because of the great price! If you are looking for something to save your hands this winter, give this a try!
Mama Knows Best
5 FebIn the winter my hands get really dry from washing them all the time. My nail beds and cuticles really suffer from the dry weather. The best thing to use on them is Mama Bee Balm ($7 www.burtsbees.com). It is an ointment that is actually for expecting mothers to put on their belly’s to help prevent stretch marks, but I use it for pretty much everything. I use it on my feet, hands and elbows to make them really soft. It is 100% natural and fragrance free. It comes in a really cute tin that you can keep in your purse or on your bedside table, so you can use this whenever you remember. It is so great for treating dry or cracked skin and really is a wonderful cuticle cream. The best thing is that you can find it at any drugstore and it is very affordable. Everyone should have a tin of this, it is a beauty must have!
Drink Your H20!
4 JanI absolutely hate water. I don’t know why but I have hated drinking water my whole life. I am trying to get better about it and I must say it has become easier as I am getting older. I am always reading how one of the best ways to great skin and great health is drinking enough water everyday. I don’t think it really matters if you drink it out of a fancy water bottle or straight from the kitchen sink, really it just matters if you drink it! I try to drink at least 48-64oz. It is hard and some days are better than others. To make it easier on myself I have a water bottle that is 33oz so I know that once I drink two, I have reached my goal. Drinking only two bottles seems like a lot less than drinking a bunch of smaller glasses…it is all psychological. Anyways, no matter how your drink it, make sure you stay hydrated so that your skin and health are at their best! CHEERS!
Kissable Lips All Year Long!
22 Dec
I have always had dry lips. I hate using chapstick because I am a lipstick person. When the weather started to change this Fall and started to get really cold, my lips became so dry and even cracked. I did some research and read a lot of great reviews about “The Lip Balm” from La Mer. I knew that their other products were great but I had actually not tried anything from this line before. I decided to give “The Lip Balm” a try as a solution for my “aching” lips. I used this product for one night and saw results by the next morning! When I woke up the cracked areas of my lips had healed and the moisture had been restored. When you read about this product on their website it says “Applied at night, lips are renewed by morning.” I was a skeptic I must admit but it worked overnight just as the website said! this is a pricey product but you get a large amount in the container and you only need a small amount with each application. I apply this every night as the last step of my beauty routine and in the morning before I apply lipstick. My lips have been so soft since I started using this it is amazing! It even has a nice mint flavor and the La Mer Specialist at the Counter told me that it helps to keep your breath fresh! If you are looking for something to rejuvenate your lips and keep them soft all the time go and get a sample of “The Lip Balm” from La Mer, you won’t be disappointed! ($45 www.cremedelamer.com)
