Polish Your Skin With Diamonds!

OK, so who would have thought that you could polish your skin with diamonds?  Well, diamond powder to be exact…The La Mer Refining Facial ($75 www.cremedelamer.com) is an at home facial that you do once a week that will exfoliate your skin but also increases your skins radiance.  It is one of the easiest facials to use, you simply amply it to a damp face and apply to the face and neck in circular motions and then simply rinse.  You don’t have to leave it on for any length of time and once you are done your face is sooo smooth!  What I like about this  face polish is that the exfoliation “beads’ are very tiny so it doesn’t feel like you are scrubbing your face.  It is very gently and you will see results instantly.  There is two carats of diamond dust in one bottle that works together with sea quartz and other minerals to help polish and exfoliate the skin.  I recommend this for anyone with sensitive skin because it is so gentle and you only have to use it once a week.  I think it is the perfect “at home’ facial that actually produces results.  Plus, who doesn’t want to wash their face with diamonds?

Tweeze With The Very Best

When you tweeze your brows you must use Tweezerman ($20-$25 www.tweezerman.com) tweezers.  These are slanted tweezers that can get every single hair out from your brow in no time, with zero pain!  They are so strong that you won’t spend time pulling and tugging at your hair.  The stainless steel is the basic color,  but they come in a lot of fun colors and fun prints.  You can even buy a pair covered in Swarovski Crystals, if you are willing to pay $100.  These are a MUST HAVE to add to your beauty arsenal!  They won’t make your eyebrows red after use and they are great for “touch-ups” in between waxes.  If you already have the slanted Tweezerman’s, try the pointed version, they are great for precision tweezing!  Throw out your old ones and invest in these, it will be one of the best things you have ever done!

Kinerase Scar Therapy

If you have scars anywhere on your face and body that you are trying to get rid of, then you need to try Kinerase Scar Healing Therapy ($48 www.kinerase.com).  I have used this on new and old scars and it has made the new ones disappear and the old ones  lighten and become pretty much non-existent.  If you use this religiously for 1-2 months you will see the difference.  I know it is hard because you want instant results, but trust me this will work, just give it time.  I like this product because it is a silicone gel, so it does not dry and flake off like other scar treatment products.  You only need to use a tiny amount to cover the area and if you use it twice a day you will see results.  You can wear it under makeup, I apply it before I put on my moisturizer.  This tube will last you for a long time, I have only bought two tubes and I have been using it regularly for about 2 years.  The website and the counter consultant says you can use this on: every day scars, scars from cosmetic procedures, c-sections, accidents, burns etc…I have only used it on minor cuts and scrapes, so I can’t let you know how it works on large areas.  From the reviews I have read it also works very well on acne scarring.  I have used it on my face in places where I have picked at a blemish and it helped heal it and there was no scar.  I do not have intense ance scarring so I can’t speak to how well it heals that type of scar, but with the results I have had I think it would be perfect.  The overall results you should have is the scar should become smooth, the skin tone and color will even out and eventually new collagen production should be restored.  If you have tried a lot of different things or you haven’t tried anything at all, don’t waste your time and start here, this stuff is amazing!

All Over Volume Boosting Shampoo and Conditioner

If you need to add volume to your hair you should start with Sebastian Professional Volupt Shampoo and Conditioner  ($17 each www.sebastianprofessional.com).  This is  the first volumizing shampoo and conditioner that gave my hair volume all over and not just at the roots.  Usually when I use other volume boosting shampoo and conditioning products I have to use volume styling products with it, with these two products you do not have  to use  anything!  You simply wash your hair as you usually do and then blow dry and your hair is so BIG!  I was amazed at the all over body my hair had.  I have thin hair and a lot of volume boosting products make your hair  greasy, this product has a great smell and leaves your hair feeling clean.  I recommend this if you struggle with getting volume in your hair.  This is also a color-safe product which is an additional benefit.   I have been using this for the past two weeks and I have all ready recommended this to several people.   This will surely give you the boost you need!!

‘Hope In A Bottle’ Is Back!

One of the best things that ever happened to my skin was Philosophy’s ‘Hope In A Bottle’ ($39 www.philosophy.com).  It is a moisturizer for adult acne prone skin, but mainly focuses on congested skin.  I wear make-up every day and with all the hormones racing through my body sometimes my skin becomes simply congested.  When I was having these issues a couple of years ago and I was talking with my little sister, she recommended trying this.  Let me tell you, this should really be called ‘Miracle In a Bottle’.  This cleared my skin up and also moisturized it at the same time.  I was using it faithfully until last spring when the company decided to discontinue this product!  My sister and I were devastated!  They had another “similar” product but it did not feel the same or give the same results.  After a lot of hoping and praying, Philosophy finally decided to bring it back! The moisturizer is very light and is oil-free.  It goes on smooth and absorbs into your skin which makes it great for using before applying make-up.  It contains Salicylic Acid to combat break-outs and Vitamin E to help with inflammation.  It also has anti-aging properties to fight fine lines and wrinkles!  It has a clean smell, which you don’t really seem to notice at all.  I use it morning and night and it doesn’t dry my skin out all.  You can even put another moisturizer on top.  I really recommend this to anyone that is having trouble with break-outs.  This was my “go-to” product forever and I am so glad it is BACK!

Shiny Hair Fast!

A lot of people ask my how I get my hair so shiny…the secret is Frederic Fekkai Salon Glaze ($28 www.fekkai.com).  It is an at home non-chemical treatment that you can do while you are in the shower.  It will make your hair shiny in about two uses and it really makes your hair color more vibrant!  How I use it is I wash my hair with my shampoo and conditioner as usual, then I get out as much excess water from my hair as I can.  Then  I apply the glaze to my hair, if you have a wide tooth comb, use it to comb the glaze evenly through your hair.  If your hair is long, I recommend clipping it up while you leave the treatment on.  Then you leave the treatment on for about 5 minutes, during this time I shave my legs or something to kill the time.  Then you simply rinse the glaze out of your hair.  You will feel that your hair already feels instantly softer and when you blow dry you will notice that it is a lot more shiny.  After I used this for about a week I started getting a lot of compliments on how great my hair looked.  I recommend this for anyone especially people with long hair!

“Blissful” Socks

If you need to soften your feet fast, you NEED these Bliss Softening Socks ($48 www.blissworld.com)!  All you do is put them on your feet for  20 minutes and you will have softer, smoother feet!  I bought these socks last year and I absolutely love them.  When you first try them they feel a little “weird” but they make your feet so soft you will fall in love with them for sure!  The inside is lined with a special gel that has olive oil, grapeseed oil, and vitamin E.  The gel does not come out, it is like silicone.  I put them on after I take a shower at night.  I leave them on until I am ready to go to bed which can be for the recommended 20 minutes or a couple of hours.  I have even slept with them on!  When you take the socks off your feet feel incredibly smooth.  You can put lotion on before you put the socks on, but I prefer to put it on after.  This is an “at home” spa treatment that everyone must have and it makes a great gift!

Overnight Clearing Gel

We all know the curse that hormones can have on our skin.  Sometimes I get minor breakouts on my chest and they make me CRAZY!!  But, my sister had me try Dermalogica Overnight Clearing Gel ($45 www.dermalogica.com) and this gel is a miracle worker.  You apply a thin layer at night to the problem areas and by morning they are less inflamed.  This gel will calm skin down and gets rid of redness in an instant!  I use it on my chest and neck and even on my face from time to time.  It does have Salicylic Acid but it hasn’t caused my skin to dry out or become irritated.  I really like that it has no artificial fragrance or color because my skin is so sensitive and it reacts to anything with a fragrance.  I recommend trying this if you are having any stubborn breakouts on your body.  This will make them calm down and really treat and heal hem fast.  I apply this a couple of times a week since my breakouts are gone, I use it now as a prevention treatment.  This brand has really great products and I like them because they make your skin feel really “clean” after you use them.  The bottle will last you a while and it is totally worth it once you see the results!

Airbrush Concealer

When I get breakouts I will not leave the house until I cover them up.  My sisters can testify that I will sit in front of the mirror and even risk being fired from my job if I do not have every imperfection hidden before I leave the house.  All I can say is blemishes are embarrassing and I don’t want to walk around all day with everyone staring at them.  In any case…I have perfected the art of covering blemishes and covering them fast!  One of my best friends turned me on to Clinique’s Airbrush Concealer ($19 www.clinique.com) last year and I am addicted!  This is like magic in a tube!  If I am wearing a liquid foundation, I apply that first and let it set on my skin for a few minutes.  Then I twist the concealer tube, it is a brush, but I don’t like to apply it directly to my skin, I put the amount I need on the back of my hand for the amount of coverage I think I will need.  Then using my ring finger I apply the concealer to the blemishes.  If you have a really bad blemish, you can build coverage with this and it works perfectly!  Just let the first application sit for about 60 seconds before applying more.  Before you know it all of your imperfections are perfectly hidden!  Then you can gently set with your favorite powder.  If you aren’t using liquid foundation then apply the concealer to the skin as above and then finish with your powder.  This concealer is also great for the under eye area and I put it on my nose to help make it brighten up and smooth out my skin tone in that area.  The texture is smooth and creamy and does not feel heavy on your skin.  I have turned several people onto this in my office and I know you will love it too!!

Brush It On

I have been collecting make-up brushes from all different brands and I have my favorites from each.  However…the more I use my Trish McEvoy brushes the more and more I think they are the best.  I bought one of the Trish McEvoy holiday brush sets last Christmas because I “needed” several new brushes and they seem to be the best.  Even when I have looked at other cosmetic counters they always say “Trish has the BEST brushes!”  Her brushes are made of 100% natural hair which makes them really soft and for smooth application of foundation, powders, or eyeshadow.  Her eyeshadow brushes are amazing, I really like the Tapered Blending Brush ($32 www.trishmcevoy.com) also know as the “Pony” brush, it gets the crease perfect!  A good way to start a nice set of brushes is to either collect them one at a time starting with the basics or start off with a basic set such as, The Essential Brush Collection ($145 www.trishmcevoy.com), this is 5 of the basic brushes from her collection which will get you started on your own collection.  If you really want to go for it you can get The Power of Tools Brush Collection ($245 www.nordstrom.com), which is 10 of the best brushes from the line and will really complete your brush collection.  The sets are a great value because if you buy the brushes on an individual basis they can run between $30-$50 each.  A good set of brushes will last you for many years as long as you wash them and take care of them properly.  Since you wear make-up pretty much everyday, a nice brush set is a good investment to make the process easier not to mention make it look better.  You should try a brush from the line or go have your make-up done by one of their artists so you can see how well they work.  I promise you will want to use these brushes everyday!
