Favorite Product For The New Year!

9 Jan

Bumble-and-bumble-Hairdressers-Invisible-Oil
I am hooked on Bumble Bumble Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil ($38 http://www.bumbleandbumble.com)! I have been using it for two weeks and it has 100% changed how my hair feels! It is for anyone that wants to reduce frizz, tame flyaways, add shine and strengthen hair against breakage. I apply before I blow dry and it leaves my hair smooth and soft and SOOOO easy to manage. You can also use a little when your hair is dry to help manage flyways. It is oil so you don’t want to over do it! The product is a blend of oils that help you to manage your hair better while it is wet and keep it looking great when it is dry! If you have a hard time blow-drying your hair, give this a try! It helps to keep hair tangle free and smooth during the process. It is a product that everyone has to have to for the new year!

Save Your Ends

24 Nov

So, I have been MIA but I have been trying out some new products and have found some AWESOME ones!!  I am someone who is addicted to my flat-iron and I color my hair so of course I have to protect my hair from split ends.  I have been using Kerastase Fibre Architecte ($42 www.kerastase-usa.com) on my ends for the past three months and let me tell you, I have decreased the amount of split ends I normally get by about 90%!  I usually look down at my hair and think “AHHH!”  but now I am hunting just to find one split end to disprove that this product works…  The product is a repairing serum that you use on wet hair before you blow dry or heat style.  You only need a small amount and you only need to put it on your ends.  The trick is, when you press the pump you need to make sure you press it evenly because it is a dual chamber so you are getting two products coming out at once.  I like it because it doesn’t leave your hair feeling greasy and it makes it shiny.  This is a must have product for anyone with long hair or with problems with split ends.  It will allow you to go longer between haircuts and you can continue to use all of your heat styling tools!

Smooth Infusion

12 Jul

I am always testing new hair products and my recent favorite for the summer is from Aveda.  It is their Smooth Infusion Style Prep Smoother ($24 www.aveda.com).  In the summer I have to battle the humidity especially when I straighten my hair.  This product helps defend against humidity for up to 12 hours!  I put this on wet hair after I put on all my other styling products and use a wide tooth comb to get this distributed evenly throughout my hair.  Then I blow dry and use my flat-iron as needed.  Your hair is smooth and sleek for the whole day!  I wash my hair every other day and this product does not make your hair feel oily or heavy.  You can definitely go without washing your hair and feel comfortable.  I did have to get used to the smell.  Most Aveda products come from plants and they smell very “earthy”, they don’t smell bad, but I am one of those girls that loves floral “girly” smells so this took some getting used too.  The good thing is the smell goes away so you don’t smell it on your hair all day.  Other people I know that use it love the smell because it is that natural citrus “woodsy” smell…”to each their own” as I say.  In any case, if you fight humidity or just want to get your dry hair looking smooth, give this a try, you won’t be disappointed!

Shea Butter Your Hair With Moisture

17 May

I am an official Frederic Fekkai hair product junkie!  I have something if not most everything from all of his different collections.  I use them on a regular rotation as they are all intended for a different use.  However, one of my favorites is the Essential Shea Collection ($25-$35 www.fekkai.com).  This collection smells amazing and it absolutely revives your hair with moisture.  I use the shampoo and conditioner once or twice a week depending on how “dry” my hair is feeling.  Since I have fine hair, if I use it more than that, my hair gets weighed down and gets oily.  I like to use the cream on the ends of hair which makes my hair really soft and the smell is divine!  Every other week or so I use the hair mask.  You leave this on for at least 15 minutes, I leave it on all night sometimes…then you wash your hair as usual and it will come out more soft than ever before!  I can’t say one bad thing about this collection.  If you need moisture for your hair or have damaged hair then I would definitely try the hair mask.  If you need to add some moisture into your routine then try using the shampoo and conditioner once or twice a week.  You will see results after the first use and the smell is heavenly which makes you want to use it more.  Who knew shea butter was as good for the hair as it is for the skin?!?!?

Finally A Good Dry Shampoo

16 May

As you know I am not a fan of dry shampoo and prefer to use baby powder.  However, I think I have finally found one that I actually really like!  I have been using Klorane Gentle Dry Shampoo ($16 www.klorane.com) for a week and it is amazing!  I have been seeing it in the beauty magazines and on blogs and finally decided to give it a try.  It has oat milk which helps soften and clean the hair and rice and cornstarch which helps get rid of the oil.  Baby powder has cornstarch too which is why I like that as well….The trick is that you really need to shake this product well.  Once shaken, section hair and spray about a foot from your hair.  If you spray too close you will get that white thick residue.  Then let it dry for two minutes, and really let it dry for two minutes.  Patience is a virtue!   Then brush and you are good to go!  This really cleans the hair and it is the first dry shampoo without an offensive smell.  All the other dry shampoos have such a strong scent and all day I smell them and it just reminds me how I didn’t wash my hair that day.  If you are looking for a dry shampoo that works, spend your money on this one it is worth it!

$2 Shampoo and Conditioner!!

28 Apr

I love a beauty  product that is cheap and really works!  I was at the drugstore  last  week  and saw that Suave had a coconut scented shampoo (one of my favorite scents!) that I “had” to have.  The best part is that it was only $2!  I  was  so excited because the bottle is huge so I felt like I really got my money’s worth!  It is the Suave Naturals Collection ($2 www.suave.com) and there are 4 fruity scents in this line.  I used the products for a week and my hair is really soft and it smells so good!  I love nothing more than a cheap shampoo and conditioner that smells divine!  If you need to get a cheap thrill or need to save money on hair care, try this Suave line, you will love it!

Clarify Your Hair

3 Mar

Once a week I need to use a clarifying shampoo on my hair.  It helps to remove all of the build-up from styling products and it makes it feel really clean.  I have tried a lot of the different kinds, but my favorite and most effective is Nexxus Replenishing Color Assure Shampoo ($10 www.nexxus.com).  You do not have to have color-treated hair to use this either.  This shampoo will remove all the build-up in your hair giving it back that “light” clean feeling. It also has B-5 vitamins and UV protectors which are good for both color-treated and non-colored hair.  These two things will help keep your hair strong and protect it from the harmful rays of the sun.  I use this shampoo at least once a week, more if I have those days when my hair feels really greasy.  There is a conditioner that goes with this shampoo, but I like to use one of my regular favorites.  The great thing is that you can find this brand at your local drugstore or Target, so no need to go on a special trip to find it.  I think you will like how clean this makes your hair feel and how long the bottle last you.  Everyone should have a great clarifying shampoo in their toolkit and this one is my favorite!  Enjoy!

Don’t Wash Out Your Hair Color!

14 Feb

There are a million shampoo and conditioner lines out there that help maintain hair  color.  I have tried a lot  of different ones and have loved them or hated them for different reasons.  The one that I am really liking right now is Pureology Hydrate Shampoo and Conditioner ($30 www.pureology.com).  When you use these products on while you are washing your hair, you don’t see color running out down the drain.  It also makes your hair very soft and shiny.  It does have a botanical smell but it does not linger on your hair.  I really like that is has peppermint in it, it leaves your scalp feeling refreshed.  The product has zero sulfates which can strip hair color and it also has a special Anti-Fade Complex which helps maintain hair color longer.  If you have tried a lot of different “Color Saving” shampoos and conditioners, this is one you should try.  It will leave your hair shiny and your color will remain in tact!

All Over Volume Boosting Shampoo and Conditioner

16 Jan

If you need to add volume to your hair you should start with Sebastian Professional Volupt Shampoo and Conditioner  ($17 each www.sebastianprofessional.com).  This is  the first volumizing shampoo and conditioner that gave my hair volume all over and not just at the roots.  Usually when I use other volume boosting shampoo and conditioning products I have to use volume styling products with it, with these two products you do not have  to use  anything!  You simply wash your hair as you usually do and then blow dry and your hair is so BIG!  I was amazed at the all over body my hair had.  I have thin hair and a lot of volume boosting products make your hair  greasy, this product has a great smell and leaves your hair feeling clean.  I recommend this if you struggle with getting volume in your hair.  This is also a color-safe product which is an additional benefit.   I have been using this for the past two weeks and I have all ready recommended this to several people.   This will surely give you the boost you need!!

Shiny Hair Fast!

14 Jan

A lot of people ask my how I get my hair so shiny…the secret is Frederic Fekkai Salon Glaze ($28 www.fekkai.com).  It is an at home non-chemical treatment that you can do while you are in the shower.  It will make your hair shiny in about two uses and it really makes your hair color more vibrant!  How I use it is I wash my hair with my shampoo and conditioner as usual, then I get out as much excess water from my hair as I can.  Then  I apply the glaze to my hair, if you have a wide tooth comb, use it to comb the glaze evenly through your hair.  If your hair is long, I recommend clipping it up while you leave the treatment on.  Then you leave the treatment on for about 5 minutes, during this time I shave my legs or something to kill the time.  Then you simply rinse the glaze out of your hair.  You will feel that your hair already feels instantly softer and when you blow dry you will notice that it is a lot more shiny.  After I used this for about a week I started getting a lot of compliments on how great my hair looked.  I recommend this for anyone especially people with long hair!
