Moisture For Your Eyes

23 May

I have really sensitive eyes and have used tons of different eye creams but a lot of them burn my eye area.  I have been using Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado ($28 www.kiehls.com) for a while now and it is heavenly.  It is a simple moisturizing eye treatment with avocado oil.  It is formulated not to migrate into your eyes and it is sensitive enough for all skin types.  Ever since using this my eye area has become brighter and my dark circles have reduced.  One way to prevent fine lines and wrinkles is moisture and you can really feel like you are getting that when you put this on.  It is a funny green color but it goes on clear.  Just use a tiny amount and dab it on lightly with your ring finger morning and night.  It is so funny because avocado’s are one of my favorite foods and now they are a part of my favorite skin care!  If you need to start using an eye cream this is a good one to try or if you need more moisture for your eye area this is perfect!

Neck Tissue Repair

19 May

One of the things I worry about with the whole anti-aging process is having a neck that looks like a turkey!  Have you every noticed those women that have great skin on their faces and their necks look 100 years older?  I really want to avoid that in my old age…So, in try to avoid gravity and neck wrinkles, I have been using Kate Somerville Neck Tissue Repair Cream With Peptide K8 ($150 www.katesomerville.com).  The science behind Peptide K8 is that it is supposed to reduce the volume, density, and depth of fine lines and wrinkles.  I have seen this in a lot of products lately.  The other benefits of K8 is that it helps with texture and elasticity of the skin.  Other ingredients help firm and tone as well as make the skin soft and smooth.  One benefit is that the jojoba and macadamia nut help keep the skin moisturized and prevent water loss.  When putting this on you only want  to move this in an upward motion.  I even put this on my bust line because I figure I need all the help I can get!  You need one pump and move it in an upward motion toward your face to help activate the ingredients.  The smell is divine and subtle so you won’t be smelling it all day long.  If you are worried about looking saggy and wrinkly from the neck down, try this cream you won’t be disappointed!

Correct & Brighten

18 May

Don’t get me wrong, I can’t live without my concealer, but I think having a brightening pen is a really great addition to your beauty bag!  I like to use Trish McEvoy Correct & Brighten Pen ($40 www.trishmcevoy.com).  It is best to use under your eyes to help get rid of dark circles and shadows that can be cast in this area.  It really brightens your eyes and makes your eye color pop!  You can put it on over concealer if you want a lot of coverage or use it in the place of concealer.  You can use it to cover any blemishes or contour any features such as your nose or cheek bones.  After I started using it I began to feel like I looked “dead” without it.  It really “wakes up” my face and makes my eyes look better.  Even if you don’t wear makeup, this will just liven you up” a bit and even you out.  It helps to diminish fine lines and wrinkles and if you have dark circles, they will be  gone in a flash!

Shea Butter Your Hair With Moisture

17 May

I am an official Frederic Fekkai hair product junkie!  I have something if not most everything from all of his different collections.  I use them on a regular rotation as they are all intended for a different use.  However, one of my favorites is the Essential Shea Collection ($25-$35 www.fekkai.com).  This collection smells amazing and it absolutely revives your hair with moisture.  I use the shampoo and conditioner once or twice a week depending on how “dry” my hair is feeling.  Since I have fine hair, if I use it more than that, my hair gets weighed down and gets oily.  I like to use the cream on the ends of hair which makes my hair really soft and the smell is divine!  Every other week or so I use the hair mask.  You leave this on for at least 15 minutes, I leave it on all night sometimes…then you wash your hair as usual and it will come out more soft than ever before!  I can’t say one bad thing about this collection.  If you need moisture for your hair or have damaged hair then I would definitely try the hair mask.  If you need to add some moisture into your routine then try using the shampoo and conditioner once or twice a week.  You will see results after the first use and the smell is heavenly which makes you want to use it more.  Who knew shea butter was as good for the hair as it is for the skin?!?!?

Finally A Good Dry Shampoo

16 May

As you know I am not a fan of dry shampoo and prefer to use baby powder.  However, I think I have finally found one that I actually really like!  I have been using Klorane Gentle Dry Shampoo ($16 www.klorane.com) for a week and it is amazing!  I have been seeing it in the beauty magazines and on blogs and finally decided to give it a try.  It has oat milk which helps soften and clean the hair and rice and cornstarch which helps get rid of the oil.  Baby powder has cornstarch too which is why I like that as well….The trick is that you really need to shake this product well.  Once shaken, section hair and spray about a foot from your hair.  If you spray too close you will get that white thick residue.  Then let it dry for two minutes, and really let it dry for two minutes.  Patience is a virtue!   Then brush and you are good to go!  This really cleans the hair and it is the first dry shampoo without an offensive smell.  All the other dry shampoos have such a strong scent and all day I smell them and it just reminds me how I didn’t wash my hair that day.  If you are looking for a dry shampoo that works, spend your money on this one it is worth it!

Moisturizer With Sunscreen

1 May

May is national skin cancer awareness month so it is totally appropriate that I tell you about my new favorite moisturizer!  I had been looking for a moisturizer for the day time with a high SPF count (due to my very fair skin) that didn’t have that sunscreen smell, when I found Neutrogena Healthy Defense Moisturizer with SPF 50 ($12 www.neutrogena.com).   The Healthy Defense line does have varying degrees of SPF from 15-50, but I need the highest possible.  I also chose the Sensitive Skin formula because sometimes sunscreen causes my face to breakout.  I started using this last week and you just need a small amount.  Don’t get scared because when you first put it on you may get that “white face” look that sunscreen can cause, but keep rubbing gently in the skin and it will absorb.  The best part is that it leaves a matte texture so you can apply your makeup right over it!  I wore it for over 8 hours and my makeup did not get oily and I did not break out!  I was so happy that I found a fragrance free SPF moisturizer that actually works well as a beauty product!  The sunscreen in this product is 100% natural which makes it gentle and not heavy on your skin.  Everyone needs to use an SPF on their face because it helps with anti-aging.  The UVA/UVB rays are damaging to all skin types.  Please give this a try and add to your routine to help fight the suns harmful rays!
